![]() Presbyterian Women (PW) is a churchwide organization whose membership is open to all women. Presbyterian Women gather for prayer, Bible study, community building, a variety of mission-related activities, and of course, celebrations. PW is an entity of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Part of its purpose is to support the mission of the church worldwide. PW is part of the Womens Ministries Program Area of the National Ministries Division. However, PW determines its own leadership, program, and budget from the congregational level through the General Assembly. Bible Study Circles At First Presbyterian Church, there are several Bible study groups, commonly referred to as PW Circles, to fit various schedules and to allow a member to get to know many different women. Wonderful Works Years ago, the group began as an arm of the Presbyterian Womens Ecumenical Missions Program by rolling bandages for church mission hospitals. Now, the women meet twice a month to use their sewing skills, create craft projects, and perform acts of service out of love for others. Wonderful Works is a hands-on womens mission group that serves both the church and the community. Among other things, the group creates baptismal mementos for each baby baptized at FPC, items needed by the Child Development Center, stuffed toys for hospital pediatric patients, and so much more. Mother-Daughter Banquet First Presbyterian Churchs Mother-Daughter Banquet is held each year near Mothers Day. Besides being a wonderful fellowship opportunity, the proceeds of the Presbyterian Women Birthday offering collected at the dinner benefit the diverse missions of the Presbyterian Women worldwide. ![]() HORIZONS is the official magazine and Bible study of PW. The annual Bible study is available in March. Each issue of the magazine has articles on spiritual growth, mission, and program planning. |
