We
have religious books but we
also have books on other
topics like gardening,
raising kids, art, animals,
history, and much more.
We have Christian fiction but we also have some best-selling authors like Tom Clancy, Stuart Woods, Nicholas Sparks, Barbara Kingsolver,
Mary Higgins Clark and
others.
We have a section of Easy children's books including books that are good for reading aloud to young children. There are good Bible story books and moral issue books for Sunday School teachers as well.
There are Juvenile books near the Easy books too. Many classic authors for upper elementary , middle school students and early high school like Madeline L'Engle, C.S. Lewis, Avi, Beverly Cleary, Laura Ingalls Wilder, etc.
We have lots of Magic Tree
house books, Redwall and
Dear America books.
And if you like the Lily
series, we have those too!
We have videos ranging from Veggietales and family movies to series of Bible stories retold by Charlton Heston
and improving your marriage.
We have music CD's
including Christian,
bluegrass, classical,
soundtracks, etc.
You'll find all kinds of items you didn't know you were interested in, such
as crafts, games or skits for Sunday School, books on Bulletin Boards and Banners, stencils and games, and vertical files of articles from magazines on local places, health issues, travel, holiday decorating, flower arranging, gangs, Olympics at Lake Lanier, and on and on.
We do have the basics too. You'll find
different versions of the
Bible,
a dictionary, thesaurus, almanac and crossword puzzle dictionary on the reference shelf behind the desk along with maps from Bible times and people of the Bible. Webster Library also keeps up with the history of the church, but you'll have to ask about that because we are currently moving it to fire rated cabinets for safekeeping.
If you have ideas for items you think we should get for the library, leave us a note. If you are looking for a book we don't have and you want us to order something for you, we will. If you find a good book review, bring it to us and we'll see about getting the book.
If you would like to visit the library at any other time besides normal operating hours and the door is locked, please have someone in the office open it for you.
To check out a book or item, write your name on the card in the back of the book or item and leave the card on the desk. The item is due back in 2 weeks. We will count from the day we pick up the card.
If you choose a paperback off the shelf right next to the desk that doesn't have a card in it, that's because those are swap books. You can take it, keep it, bring it back or bring a different one to replace it if you want. "Freebies," in other words. Sometimes we send them to missionaries.
If you are interested in joining the Guild, please call Julie Hartley. We will train you! We meet about every other month and you are only required to put in two hours of work per month other than meeting times and work shifts.
