Family Ministry

Embracing, Equipping and Empowering families to be strong in faith and theologically sound in action

First Presbyterian Church believes that families play a significant role in learning about the love of God. With that in mind, we work to strengthen families through enrichment opportunities for couples, single parents, children, youth and grandparents. Through worship experiences, fellowship programs and smaller gatherings, we work to give family members the encouragement and support of people who know the blessing and challenges of family life. We learn from one another, share stories and wisdom, laugh and cry together and lean on God for strength through prayer and meditation. There are always opportunities for growth in our Wednesday night WOW classes and the small group Sunday morning gatherings in the GIFT and Family Foundation Classes. Occasionally, we work within our denomination and ecumenically within the community to offer marriage enrichment programs, divorce recovery, missional opportunities and parenting workshops.

We like to get outside of the walls of the church and explore God’s creation and allow for opportunities for growth in our familial relationships and in that of our church family. We believe that relationships are the key to ministry and we seek ways to get all involved in the various aspects of the life of the church. In doing so, we can truly utilize the gifts that we have been blessed with in conjunction with one another as we glorify God and seek to grow in our faith.

Through fellowship programs, we work to give family members the encouragement and support  of people who know the blessing and challenges of family life. We learn from one another, share stories and wisdom, laugh and cry together and lean on God for strength. Periodically, we work within our denomination and with other churches in the area to offer marriage enrichment programs, divorce recovery, and parenting workshops.
