OUTREACH/MISSIONS
IN ACTION
Boy Scout Troop 3
Boy Scout
Troop #3, sponsored by First Presbyterian Church, is alive and
active. Five men are leading this troop in many exciting
activities. These men—John Irving, Larry West, Kevin Finney, Tom
Rossi and Shon Peppers—meet with the troop members every Monday
evening at our Lake House. The group met recently with the scout
parents to plan programs for the next school year. Plans are
underway for camping and hiking trips, a caving trip, a trip to
the Space and Air Museum in Huntsville, Alabama, and a trip to
the USS York Air Craft Carrier and Fort Sumter in Charleston,
South Carolina. This will be an exciting time for the young men
in this troop to grow in character and move up in the program.
All these activities cost money and the troop must be
rechartered for a fee every year. We support the troop with a
meeting place, but financial help would also be greatly
appreciated. The troop needs tents, camp stoves, lanterns, a
dehumidifier for the Lake House, and cash for propane and
camping fees. They receive help by selling old newspapers left
in the collection box outside the church’s kitchen door. They
will also be selling Christmas trees this year, and we hope you
will support this fundraising endeavor. If you know a boy
(eleven years or older) interested in joining Troop 3 of Boy
Scouts of America or if you would like to contribute needed
items or offer some financial help to this group, please call
Shon Peppers at 678.936.5357.
Boy Scout Recycling Project
The newspaper recycling bin provided by FPC
behind the kitchen benefits the Scout troop.
Newspaper donations help
provide equipment and summer camp scholarships
for boys who cannot afford these things.
