Alpha Series
DON’T MISS OUT!
The Alpha
Course will be held with WOW on Wednesday
evenings
Have you
wondered about the Alpha series? Have you
avoided the Alpha series? Have you wanted to
attend, but there were just too many nights out
already?
We may
have an answer for you. This Fall we will be
holding the next Alpha series on Wednesday
evenings at the same time and place as the WOW
dinner programs and several of the Youth and
Children’s programs.
The first
week, August 27th, will be an introductory and
welcome session where you can have the chance to
see and hear what Alpha is all about.
Alpha is a ten
week, 15 session practical introduction to the
Christian faith designed primarily for
non-churchgoers and new Christians.
What in the world does it have
to do with us when British Pastor Nicky Gumbel,
the video leader, asks, “Is Christianity boring,
untrue and irrelevant?” If you have never asked
those questions maybe someone you know has.
Maybe you have had questions about your faith or
faith journey that you needed to share with
someone, but felt it was not “right” or
appropriate. Maybe you realize that your Bible
knowledge has gaps. The Alpha course does not
offer pat answers, but it offers a setting where
head knowledge is presented and heart knowledge
can be discovered. It is a chance to get to know
others in more than a passing way. It is a safe
place to invite others to come with you to share
a meal, a video presentation and a short small
group discussion if they have questions. Alpha
as a course is now successfully running in all
denominations and settings—churches, campuses,
prisons, the military, workplaces. It is held
around the world in many languages. Perhaps you
would like to spend a few Wednesday evenings
seeing what it is all about.
Alpha is a great way to meet and
get to know new friends, to learn or clarify
some faith basics, and to be continually
surprised by what you discover--all in a
non-threatening setting. To see more of the
